Snow Day

Well, the kids are happy, they got a snow day today. I was hoping they could get this one last day in before they have TWO WEEKS off for Christmas. Only six more days - time to get my shopping done and get those last cards out!

Look how deep it is, and it's still coming down!! They say we will get 8-12 inches by the time it's done.

Harley loves to run in the snow.

Swingsets aren't just for summertime, you know.

Happy Spring Break

Are you enjoying your Spring Break? We kicked ours off with 14 inches of snow. I had to kick the kids outside. They are tired of snow. Easter Day we had some real pretty flurries falling - it felt like Christmas!! I know Easter is early this year, but YIKES. It was 17 when I got up this morning!!!

Snow, Snow, and more Snow

It just keeps snowing and snowing and snowing!!

Snowing
And it's supposed to snow again today and tonight. We are running out of places to put it. The poor dogs are having a little trouble getting around in it - and they're big dogs!! I'm not sure if you can tell in this picture, but they are mostly doing their 'business' close to the house and then have one trail through the backyard to the woods:

They don't even try to go into the front yard. They just stand on the sidewalk and look over the white fence:

Hockey, Hockey, Hockey

It's crunch time!! We had hockey tournaments three of the four weekends last month. State playdowns are this weekend. Then the season wraps up by early March. So I've been a little busy. Oh, and did I mention we're moving to Minnesota? So any free time is spent sorting through junk and packing to try to get the house ready to show. Here's some pics a professional photographer took of Carolyn at one of her tournaments (click on the small image below to see the slideshow):

Her team took second place at that tournament.

They also played at the Badger State games in Rhinelander where they posed in front of a Hodag:

They do didn't as well at Badger State. The team that ended up winning their division played 5 games and scored 56 goals. Their opponents (including Carolyn's team) scored a combined total of 4 goals. That was a good hockey team!

Jake's team also played in a tournament last month and took second place. When he's not playing, he can often be found officiating:

We got buried in snow yesterday. The kids loved having a snow day. Steve worked from home. So did I (well, I always do, but my office was closed, so I couldn't go in even if I wanted to). I was trying to snap a shot of the neighbor, who drove his Porsche to work and got stuck in the driveway when he got home about 3 pm. Look at the snow on the bush and in the air! (Note to self, don't take the Porsche to work when they are predicting over a foot of snow!)

Christmas Card

These are the two pictures I had on my Christmas Card this year. I got questions about both so I will answer them here, in case you had the same question.

Question 1: Why isn't Carolyn in the first picture?
Answer: She is, you just have to look closely, Jake has buried her in the snow.

Question 2: Did one of your dogs die?
Answers: No. The dog you see in the pictures is Harley. Gordie was inside at the time. I didn't bother to bring him out because I've never been able to get them both to hold still for a picture anyway.

More Snow Day Pictures

Some driveway shots. I REFUSE TO SHOVEL - IT IS APRIL!!

The backyard.

Easter Eggs and Snow

We have had some weird weather in April. The weekend before spring break was very warm, but it has gotten very cold since then. 20 degrees in April is not fun!! We had to have our Easter egg hunt indoors since it was in the 20s on Easter Sunday:

The weather is even worse today. Snow on Spring Break!! I told the kids to just pretend it is a snow day, but they just give me strange looks....
